Earning Trust is the Essence of being successful

During my career, I’ve observed many talented and smart people who couldn’t build a successful and fulfilling career. Why? They failed to cultivate the most critical aspect of success: Building trustful relationships with key stakeholders.

On the other hand, I’ve had the privilege to work with and observe extraordinary individuals and leaders skilled at establishing trust with various people. Here’s what they are like and how they do it:

  • They are strong owners, always feeling and acting fully accountable.
  • They thoughtfully consider different options and perspectives without overcomplicating it.
  • They are perpetually positive with a can-do attitude, being bold shapers and makers.
  • They are dependable, always doing what they say.
  • They are generous, giving first before expecting anything in return and often giving without expecting back.
  • They are good and sincere listeners to better understand situations and people.
  • They are not afraid to express their opinion constructively even when it’s not popular.
  • They are willing to disagree and commit when required, as they focus on the greater good.
  • They are transparent and loyal, never speaking ill of others behind their backs.
  • They are value-adders, looking to support their teams and/or leaders.
  • They are accountable, the first to admit mistakes and take blame when things go off track.
  • They are appreciative, quick to praise their team and others when things go well.
  • They are versatile, pragmatic, and never saying ‘that’s not my job’.
  • They are hands-on leaders, enjoying getting their hands dirty and leading by example.

These qualities are more than traits. They are the cornerstones of their leadership, turning interactions into trust-building moments and challenges into opportunities for collective achievement.
