How Can We Become Better At Being Humans While Machines Become Better At Being Machines?
HUMA is a leadership model with a powerful set of tools that celebrates humanity by helping every individual become more effective and more relevant. The model is deeply people-oriented and grounded in building very specific human capabilities that machines can’t replicate at the level that high-performing organizations and individuals demand.
These distinctly human capabilities, which I call Human Power Skills, include creativity, collaboration, trust building, sensemaking, empathy, and ethics, among others. They are generated by the following Five Core Competencies: Psychological Safety, Growth Mindset, Ownership, Operating at Excellence, and Applying a Coaching Approach. Both the Core Competencies and the Human Power Skills are closely interconnected and reinforce each other, creating a growth flywheel.
HUMA is a human-first approach, but it’s deliberately enhanced by what machines and technology make possible. Within HUMA, however, they’re designed and leveraged to strengthen human effectiveness. They don’t run the show. People do. HUMA provides not only a comprehensive new framework, but also concrete strategies and specific techniques to apply it in everyday work and life.
